what I mean is that making forums to advertise a slot machine like today, where a user spammed a mobile app,and was banned, or show a common mate, like when someone made a whole forum to show fools mate and it had to get locked. so please, use them as a example of what not to do. please comment other wrong ways to use the forums. thank you.

Yeah, seriously. I open chess.com and see, like, 50+ notifications from this club and half of it isn't even relevant. angry

the guy spamming was probably a scammer

I don't think it's a probably because like uhh it's something off of chess.com, but it's weird to advertise in a relatively niche space

I just opened my account and found 5 forum notifications that were for advertisements, and another one that was showing Fool's Mate. I agree that people aren't using forums very appropriately. As a matter of fact, several times I have encountered a forum made by a relatively new user that was titled with their username and had only their username in the topic area.

And some people post forums to show their varient. but the admins are great and lock the forums that are useless.

… I don’t think this forum really has any connection to Custom Variants and could probably be relegated to notes, but i guess it’s pretty important topic
