My question is: Would you trade on d5? Justify.

BulletCloud

I would trade on d5

Strategic_Brilliance

yes, since it would "damage" white's pawns, and the white bishop would become worse, and we will be able to remove the white knight, which seems to have an outpost. Black's light squared bishop is also not that active.

GreatoduTheFirst

Yes, and after x(any) we go Ne5

As most have said yes, I will say no from a "keeping the centre locked point" of view. The Bishop is defending very well and an exchange leaves an IQP. Do I see a big advantage from breaking up the centre, not yet. Therefore a nice flanking Kingside attack supported by the Bishop could be another viable option.

Interesting. But I think after Bxd5 exd5 Ne5, Black has a better minor piece (since Black's Knight has a big rank advancing on e5). About White's attack on the kingside, we can think that the best square for him is e4. However, Black can nullify this Bishop with ...g6-...f5 (putting all pawns on the white squares, and Black's Knight on e5 controls all the white squares near the center and kingside.
