pretty sure you can just click advanced -> openings
Suggestion: Archive Opening filter
That's what I'm saying, the selection of those openings, which you can only chose from a list.
That list is not alphabetical and very very incomplete, so if you want a specific opening that's not the Ruy Lopez or similarly popular, you'll have to select "uncommon opening", or I guess, you could "narrow it down" to king or queen pawn opening and then manually look at every result and try to find the opening you're looking for. It would be a lot better to be able to search with an ECO or even better an FEN.
For example, I see you play the Van't Kruijs Opening, try to have the archive search results display those
I see about adding more openings and such, but I personally prefer using explorer to learn openings. You don't always learn their names that way but I prefer that method.

sorry only read the first 3 words of the titles lol

I do that when compiling a repertoire, but some more obscure one have few games in there so the win/lose ratios become quite insignificant or may just be completely bad or losing. I've stumbled upon a line where one side hung all their pieces worse than a 400-ish player would, so anything but the main lines can be very dubious. Also it doesn't include the games played on chess.com
Instead I would prefer to find a player I like the style of and see what their lines are knowing what kind of middlegame they prefer, so being able to search their games for an opening would be quite helpful.
On top of that, finding my own games with a specific opening and see how well it did or see what kind of lines gave me trouble and try to find something better or go over them with a coach would be a big plus.
The FEN would even be better than names, because it could start out as an Indian or RVA but transpose into a French variation depending on what the opponent plays and it's quite important to find when to better transpose than ending up with a worse position in the middlegame
Maybe I'm thinking it's easier than it is as I don't know how all the stuff runs on the backend, but since you can use the FEN to search through GM tournament games ( I mean this one https://www.chess.com/explorer ), couldn't that be carried over to look through your own live games as well or archives in general, or would that be a problem because of the bigger database size?
It's actually good that rcu21 replied and I stumbled on his Van't Kruijs Opening.
I don't think there is one in the list that starts with e3, and selecting "uncommon opening" only yields games with Mieses Opening (d3), so if I played Van't Kruijs Opening and wanted to find my games where I played it in order to have a look at what I could improve, I would have no convenient way to do that.
Edit: I stand corrected, Van't Kruijs Opening is also among the uncommon ones, there were just a lot more Mieses Openings, but it's still mixed in with the thousands of other uncommon openings
What one can uncover/explore presently is pretty good:
1, Visit Chessbovine's archive:

2. Explore Chessbovine's Games and pick an opening sequence, for example the first 3 moves of the Scotch
3. Explore Chess.com's games for Scotch Opening

4. Explore Chess.com's games for Scotch Opening 3 ...f6
5. View archive of games after 4. dxe5

@jas0501 oh thanks, I missed that entirely, I thought that would be the GM games explorer.
It would be neat if it also showed the summary of the win/loss ratio for the current position

Agree but it is available from the previous move move's summary. For example the 3. d4 win/loss is presented before making the d4 move:

I mean a ratio for all of the subvariations combined
Not sure what you are asking for. The move 3.d4's 485 games with a 54%/45% win/loss ratio seems to provide the combined subvariations,

though there is a bit of an accounting issue wiht the numbers as

the numbers don't match the summary:
| 3…exd4 | 336 | 64.62% |
| 3…d6 | 65 | 12.50% |
| 3…Nf6 | 60 | 11.54% |
| 3…Nxd4 | 15 | 2.88% |
| 3…f6 | 15 | 2.88% |
| 3…d5 | 8 | 1.54% |
| 3…Bd5 | 4 | 0.77% |
| 3…Bb4+ | 4 | 0.77% |
| 3…a6 | 4 | 0.77% |
| 3…Bc5 | 4 | 0.77% |
| 3..Qf6 | 2 | 0.38% |
| 3…g6 | 2 | 0.38% |
| 3…h6 | 1 | 0.19% |
| Total | 520 |
520 not equal 485
Yeah, a total like that, but without to having to do the math^^ But I guess, I could always go a move back to check that
Regarding the 485 vs 520, it's just my uneducated guess, but maybe when it searches for 3.d4 maybe it searches for the position rather than the move order so there might be other move order to arrive at that position like e4 e5, Nf3 Nc6, d4 and Nf3 Nc6, e4 e5, d4 or e4 Nc6, Nf3, e5, d4 than how often d4 was played after the actual moves e4 e5, Nf3 Nc6, not sure if that makes sense or how it works
I find it quite interesting to try and find solid but more obscure openings, but finding GM games with them is difficult, since the drop down for the opening when searching someone's archive is difficult.
Same applies for when I want to search for all my games with a certain opening in order to compile the most tricky responses I encountered.
First of all it would be nice if the openings were sorted alphabetically instead of a random order, or maybe it's not random, but not very easy to find the one you want.
And then it's a very limited selection, it doesn't have the English Defense, Budapest Defense, London, Owen Defense, Modern Defense etc.
Maybe it could be have a list of the most popular ones, but below that a more detailed list with all of them, at least those that have an own name, or perhaps even a space where you can just type the ECO, or a mini board where you can make the first six moves or something or the FEN, so something similar like in the database.
The database however does not have the GM games that were played here, and obviously none of those in my own archive, so it would be great to have the option to search your own or other's archives for a certain opening position
