I like it.
yea if your looking for early action and more of it. you might even consider 3x points for first piece captured. that could make for an interesting twist to get the game going
Interesting idea. Some time ago I suggested that the first four captures should give double points, but someone responded that the game has already more than enough aggression!
Clearly need to know what the developers are going for. If I had to guess overall I think the part that makes this game is the Chaos and crazy aggressive nature of the game. I understand that this is counter to normal chess but I suspect that is one of the points. So things like slow build up would be great in normal chess but 4-player something not desirable (for success). This is just my thoughts no idea if I'm close or way off. *And yes there is a point where there can be to much Chaos but that's going to be different for each of us so finding a good balance will probably be the trick.
For example: 1st piece capture, 1st check, 1st promotion.
As the red starts to play, he has the advantage of meeting the above three. (e.g. 1. Ne1-Nd3 2. Nd3xb5 and so on)
venbagoly, it is not smart for red to lose a knight at the very beginning of the game just to check another player, even if the check gives him some points.

You can not know. It weaken, the opponent will not castle, and you got not only 1 point, but more. For a Knight. Anyway, red has advantage, as he move first.
It may be a good idea to give some additional points to those who do something for the first time in a particular game.
For example: 1st checkmate, 1st piece capture, 1st check, 1st double check, 1st promotion.
This may motivate players to be more active.
