Suggestion - Retest Every Variant Before Merge
Every position doesn't need to be tested, but every position needs to be considered. Not deeply considered, for some popular variants like fiesta, Labyrinth 82 (Not sure if this is the original or what, but it seems good as is), Gustav's Box, etc. are obvious keepers (I'd argue that King Safety, at least 9+11 teams can also fit into that list, but that's another topic entirely).
But do we really need Gustav's Box and Double Flower? Why is Chaturaji Alternate teams even listed?? Don't get me started on some of the unrated presets. General War is just a walmart WFT. Do people play the unrated 2pc variants like "The X of Tricks"? Anyone could slap some pieces on the board and make something equally fun as "Fight in the Amazon Jungle". Smothered Kings could be reworked into a faster paced game that works as a WoF. It serves no use as an unrated listed variant.
Not all of them are bad, but many of them would be fine in the WoF rotation. The list of variants as it stands is too long, and overwhelming to new players, too.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

you are insulting my former status
bsrti and qilp did an extremely thorough analysis of variants a few months ago; I'm willing to bet they still have that list, and probably not too many new NCPs have been added since then
also note that every so often, NCPs which are barely played will be evaluated and most of the time removed

Hyper fiesta is a popular variant (last I checked) so I think it would be a keeper.
The Colosseum, 0_0 Mega Fairy, Dead King Labyrinth, perhaps even King Safety, are among some of the variants that players have complained of being unfair, spam, a dead variant that nobody plays, or plain boring.
On top of that, while not a priority now, it should be noted that after the merge to variants, as of now it seems that either all of the separate variants will either be put on one giant list for you to scroll down on or hidden away where you can't find them.
Because of this, I think that CGAs should consider retesting every (yes, every) variant before the merge, regardless of whether or not it is rated or casual, since that would be irrelevant after the merge.
