Suggestion to improve FFA

On FFA we usually tend to play together with others  even if we don't mean to cheat. Because that's the best strategy to earn points. Usually winner gets lots of points, second player earns little bit, third player loses little bit but 4th player loses a lot .  But if you start treating 2nd, 3rd and 4th the same there will be no point in playing together. So my suggestion is to remove points on same level for all three. What's your opinion and comments about that? Thanks

Here's the example:

Lets say these are the players at end of the game (and my imagination about how much points they should win and lose):

  • 1st place anon1 rating: 1560 earns 20 points
  • 2nd place anon2 rating: 1600 loses 12 points
  • 3rd place anon3 rating:  1100 loses 3 points
  • 4th place anon4 rating: 1300 loses 5 points

@alynurly This would mean that all regard for handicapping goes out of the window. So it would not work.

The whole point of a FFA game is that you gain/lose points by looking at your rating compared to your opponents' ratings. If you're high rated, you'll lose many points and gain few and vice versa.

If you make 2nd, 3rd and 4th all lose the same number of points, the top players gain an advantage because they'll lose minimal points even if they come last.If you make them lose no points at all, then people's scores will keep on increasing forever.

@tommerall949 no I didn't mean them to lose same number of points I just want all three to be treated equally. Right now each ranking treated differently. Lots of the time people help others to get 2nd place. Because they don't lose points instead they earn points

ahh.. thats a good point. that happens a lot...

The remedy can be installing BOTS to look after the games after they are played just like what happens on the live CHESS server

Please show us some examples illustrating your phrase "I just want all three to be treated equally". With some numbers.
