1st cycle of Swiss Open 90m+30s (1 Rd every 2 weeks), start on Jun 1st (HAS FINISHED on Sep 30)

The next tournament that I will organize is : SWISS OPEN, 90m+30s

All players from all rating category are invited, as this is Swiss Open.

Number of Rounds : 6 Rounds.

20 days time span between a Round and next Round.

NOTE : I decided to give 20 days time span for this tournament (instead of 2 weeks/ 15 days in previous tournament) to accommodate your already busy schedule.

Date/time to play : considering the players are from various Continent, we will never use a fixed time,
but instead : you will have 20 days time span, to negotiate with your opponent, to find the best time to play the game within that 20 days span.

I expect Round 1 will start on Jun 1st (with time to play until Jun 20th).

then Round 2 will start on Jun 21st (with time to play until Jul 10th), and so on.

Rd-1 : Jun 01 - Jun 20  ( Rd-1 pairing will be out at the end day of May 31)
Rd-2 : Jun 21 - Jul 10
Rd-3 : Jul 11 - Jul 31
Rd-4 : Aug 01 - Aug 20
Rd-5 : Aug 21 - Sep 10
Rd-6 : Sep 11 - Sep 30

For anyone who's interested, please write in comment section, then I will add you.

ninjaswat

I would like to be included in this.

Note I will be in Europe for 18 days at some point during the summer (leaving sometime in June/July) so that round I may wish to play earlier, if that's possible?

Also, would every round end after 20 days no matter whether every game has finished?

fhunfi

Hi @ninjaswat

Let me answer your questions

1) every round will always 20 days apart. I wish I could start any next round earlier , if all players had finished their game earlier.. but considering most of players here are already busy at another leagues, then I don't want to make thing fast forward but will affect their availability for smooth negotiation in next Round / so.

2) Any player who Late-Join (come only to join for first time in any particular round) will get 0.5 BYE point as their starting point

3)   Any player who decide ( tell me in advance)  that he cannot play in next particular round before pairing for next round is out ..  he will not be paired in next round then.  he will got 0 (zero) point though, and will not get 0.5 point Bye for that.

This is best (to tell me in advance), so that he will not get paired,   to avoid the case in point 4) below.

4) in case after pairing is out..   A vs B  let say..   A decided that he could never play the game within 20 days span,  then A can negotiate with B for 0.5 - 0.5 result ( in case B agreed).

In case B is not agreed, then B will get 1 point victory, and A will lose by forfeit.

for case 3) and 4) ,  the player can of course tell me that he will play again as usual in following new Round.

5) because in Swiss system, the pairing for next round can only be generated after all result from current Round is finished,  so there is no chance that any player to start the next round earlier than the schedule (because there is no pairing out yet).

The case that player can play any Round earlier or later than the schedule, is perfectly possible if system is Round Robin, because we have already fixed all schedule for all rounds even from the very beginning.

Hope this help

hi!  happy.png  this sounds like an ideal 90 30 swiss tournament!   please include me in it, thanks!

dwcofer

I am interested, but first can you tell me where the negotiation for the game time occurs. Is it here on chess.com?  If so, how? Through messages back and forth, or how?  I've never sent messages to other players through chess.com.

Thanks
