Tactics rating bug.
I think doing TT on both phone and app probably confused the system. I understand your frustration @Chessbovine. It’s so difficult to get to 1700 in TT. Also difficult to stay in 1600.
It's not too bad. If I'm capable of >1600, I'll get back there, if not, it wasn't meant to be.
Yeah, it most likely updated the rating with the 1580 that was still on the phone, but it shouldn't have updated it in the first place as the rating isn't affected after the first attempt, and ideally it'd update the change to the server rating, not the one currently loaded on the page, as the website could be loaded on multiple devices or the app
I did TT on another site on both iPhone and iPad. Then I saw TT rating is frozen on the phone no matter how many TT I did. It refused to change. So I had to reinstall the app. That’s why I thought it’s the same thing happening here.
I shouldn't lose rating points for losing against a pending puzzle, right? @mrussryan, what about Puzzle Rush?
I actually gained points because I got part of the sequence right. I think I didn't explain it very well. The pending puzzle after the first attempt affected the rating as it should. I then did more on puzzles on a different device and got my rating higher. Then I remembered the one I got wrong and wanted to get it right, so I retried the pending puzzle and then it seems to have overwritten the current rating to the one I got after I got the pending puzzle wrong. So it didn't deduct points for the pending puzzle, it just reverted back to the "older" rating. I don't think the fact it was pending was affecting it.
Yeah, they seem to be more like regular puzzles, I've also gained 10+ points on pending puzzles. But some still give you +1 no matter if you got it right. Maybe they are still pending after enough people tried them but start to behave like regular puzzles in terms of rating
So basically
-fail one (or do one right, I guess that part doesn't matter, but it might as failing it means it's not completed, but the rating has been changed), the leave the browser
-do tactics in the browser on a different device to change the rating.
-go back to the device where you got it wrong, retry and get it right. The next rating change would then be added or deducted from the rating that from the first device when the first puzzle failed
The first was mobile firefox on android, the other regular firefox on windows if it matters
shoutout to amrugg : Chess.com does provide for practice against a problem encountered during a PuzzleRush session. One has to identify the target puzzle either by its rating, or more easily by recalling its order of appearance. Then either after the session has expired or you terminate using the "quit" feature at the lower right of the interface, you click on the puzzle you have targeted for practice. You are hyperlinked to the puzzle for practice attempts.Such attempts do not arise from RatedMode, You will not be able to practice against the clock. Prior to the new interface you would have been able to have a clock on such practice attempts
I had the website open on the phone, got one of the pending ones wrong and had the rating at 1580 or something. Then I had to do other stuff and at home I did some more on the computer and had the rating at 1599, then remembered about the one I got wrong on the phone and finished it. I did the next one on PC and got it wrong and it dropped to 1566, so it seems like it deducted it from the 1580 from when I did the one on the phone which should have been unrated after getting it wrong instead of the then current 1599.
