Red to move. This puzzle can be easy, medium or extremely hard depending on how deeply you want to work on it. If you find the first move for red, I consider it an easy puzzle because the answer is clear. If you find the resources necessary for the next few moves I applaud you, then it is medium level, and if you want it really hard, figure out what the end evaluation should be and the different ways the game can go.

This is a variation of the game: #71055600

I'm looking at Bf6 Qxj13 Rh14

, bxc11 , if rook takes c11,qxd10 , if g doesnt play b7 , move red bishop out to cover for blue's light squares .

Avatar of Cold_is_Coming

doesnt work if blue just moves his rook to d10 ,,

Maybe it's harder than I thought. This is about king safety and, most importantly, basic 4pc tactics!

be7, Nc6 or Qxj13, Rh14.

Pretty puzzle...I was thinking we lose the bishop if j11 (and so losing anyway) but we have that beautiful check

What would be your next move for each color @HSCCCB?

Avatar of HSCCCB

see above additions but j11 doesn't work (why I like this puzzle) for green. G. L9? and trade off queens

Avatar of HSCCCB

Qj13 better than Nc6 because of j3

no queen trade I don't think...sharp position but g/b have better chances

G. bm7 solidify position for green

Thanks for the positive feedback! Appreciated.

it gets multiple variations even if u find the first move ,, making 3 steps , easy , moderate , hard makes it interesting for every player lower or higher rated . nice puzzle .

Bf6 Qxj13 Rh14 Rl9 (Rxi12 Bxk11) 19. Bxk11 Qxh13+ Kxh13 Rxl10 Bxl10

Avatar of icystun

Good attempt @wolyn: In your variation blue will play c5 (pass), not Qxj13, with a hidden threat, do you see it?

Avatar of wolyn

I see two threats: j11 and Bxi12

typical cheese after losing to me

Avatar of icystun

yes @wolyn : Bxi12 yellow can address with Rh14 on the next move. However j11 is not so easy to parry at the same time. Red needs to help out.

Avatar of wolyn

Bf6 c5 j11 to stop both Bxi12 and j11
