As an FYI - below is the forum post I just made for all the Round 3 winners!

I want to thank all of you who competed actively in Round 2! We hope to hold this event again, and maybe you will all have better luck next year...

Danny

Hi Everyone,

After some review by our staff we came to two determinations that I'm sure none of you will be upset about:

1) We need MORE rounds for people to play! This is the FINAL chance for everyone to dominate their opponent's and earn prizes... and having only two events per day in time zones that may not be convenient for everyone would not be the right way to decide things...

2) We needed to shorten the time controls so that it is more practical for people's busy schedules.

You're welcome to both! Wink

I think some things have been far from ideal in this tournament, but I just want to say that I had a really fun time participating. Good luck to those that made it to the third round and thanks chess.com for hosting this tournament. I will surely play next year if I have time.

chess_pagol

I am agreed with Martin0 but shortening time isn't good to be the real chess games. I will suggest shortening rounds like in round 3 and also giving 2 tournaments per day.

Not great for me personally, but in general it's a great change :)

is there no event to be conducted giving prizes for non titled players?? we are also the part of chess.com ..So please consider us too & keep some nice events and award the winners..

1st, this tournament has been really fun thanks chess.com!

2nd, i think that in future years for this tournament the time control should be short in the beginning and long in later rounds because usually in the beginning I play someone really hard or really easy and get a short game, but in later rounds i play better games and need more time.

3rd, the tournament took a lot of time (~2hrs per tourney) so maybe yeah.

4th, there were so few opporunities to qualify (224 qualifying spots, and around 4000 participants maybe (only 5%), so maybe cheating would go down if there were more opportunities.

5th also, maybe make tourneys more frequent (every 3hrs?) bc the only time that I could do was at 9pm which was still pretty inconvient bc it got fairly late (lasted around til 11:30)

6th this tournament was a lot of fun (especially thinking about money prizes $$$) chess.com should have more money tournaments! :D
