Penn is hilarious, but I would council against calling it "the goddam Bible".  That's a hard slap to those who actually believe that stuff.  As I have stated before, my problem with religion isn't that they believe ("....it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."  T.J. 1782).  My problem is when they interject their belief into public discourse, and eventually, into public policy.

Yeah I agree.

But my more mild approach won't draw more than 2 fans on youtube... while Penn's approach is popular.

I used to accept NOMA and was an avid fan of Stephen Jay Gould's books, especially his book "rocks of ages".

However, most religions, Christianity included, in practice are inevitably going to violate NOMA as long as they exist.

So they will always work to inject themselves on others.

I always found this very interesting. In the OT book of Job, springs on the ocean floor are spoken of in the present tense. ( ch 38 v 16 )

Per the link, mankind discovers there are indeed springs on the ocean floor 44 years ago....
