I thought I might be a good idea to make a sticky topic on the challenges - just to give people a place to give feedback to the admins as to vote and team match challenges. Are there too few, too many? Wrong types of challenges? Is there some particular type of challenge you'd like? Themed challenges (starting with some set opening variation)? Different time limits? Something else? Here's the place for ideas.
I'm atheist and I'm having trouble finding justifications for morality which do not rely on god. Of course this does not justify believing in god as that is entirely circular. However, if anybody has put thought into the issue and wishes to share their thoughts on it or have good books to reccomend I would be happy to hear them.

Your thoughts on the world's second largest religion (if you lump all the christians together)?Does islam pose a threat to the world like some right-wing politicians say?
I know this sounds strange for an atheist to ask, but what are atheist funerals like? My family are strong Christians and I'm not sure exactly what they do.
Just wondering where people stand on this issue? My feeling is that perhaps there's a higher power out there - who really knows? Perhaps we could have an internal tournament of the committed vs the non-committed? Put me down for the agnostics.
http://jesus-loves-you.org/thrift-shop-christian-remix/ I thought I would share. :)
This is a fun article on the goings on in Minnesota. The senator in question was known as a strong defender of marriage against the push to allow gays to marry in Minnesota. Her affair has apparently given the gay community and their supporters a wonderful opportunity to poke fun at the stance. http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2011/12/gay_marriage_amy_koch_michael_brodkorb.php
Reading Sam Harris' "Letter to a Christian Nation" he mentions this website and I thought I would share it. http://whywontgodhealamputees.com/important.htm To many of us the arguments this site makes are pretty basic, but they do a good job and it is worth looking at on a dreary Monday morning. G

The Atheists have challenged us to a team match. They have near 20 players already signed up and we have 3. If we could get some more to join, especially those rated high enough to challenge their top players, that would be awesome. Although, as Bld47 has noted, if you are on both teams you cannot play for either.

Hello Everyone I found an interesting documentary about pressure for censorship by the religious right in the UK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKxTTWOIce8 It's called "What's Wrong With Blasphemy" and is hosted by funnyman Stewart Lee. I liked it.

I've been questioning my beliefs and I was wondering what is deism? I know the basics. However, I'm not really sure the pros and cons. Thanks, David

Interesting story from the good old BBC here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14417362 It looks like even some Churches are coming over to the Godless way of thinking! Any thoughts?

I wanted to run a straw poll and see how we break down on the ground zero mosque issue. I have no problem with it.
I'm quickly posting this because I really should go to bed.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KxHD6o259IInside I was laughing with glee while watching this video. I am pretty sure I had worked out a similar argument to the one in this video myself before (something like that if God is something specified, He has limitations, but if He isn't, He is a mystery), but I'm not certain whether the argument actually is correct. It seems obvious that the only way 'God' can be disproved is by means of scrutinizing its definition. And that leaves me wondering whether this is not just some clever play with definitions of words (just like the 'ontological argument for God' is).Any thoughts?
