For Erik - if you are still reading these forum threads --

I want to make PERFECTLY CLEAR one fact; I never had such lag issues with v2.  There were a few odd times where re-connects happened during LIVE CHESS in v2, but that was the exception, not the norm.

In V3, I have terrible lag on every page, with some days being worse than others.  I believe whatever route is taken is immaterial; I believe v3 sends out such a torrent of javascript functions and other data packets that the routers of the Internet take extended amounts of time to process those packets (filter them for viruses, etc.) such that the delay in rendering a page is (on average) 2-3x slower than what v2 offered.

If Net Neutrality ever became a thing, it would be even worse.

..and the bugs in V3... !

Simpler was better for chess.com with v2.

As is, I am currently resigning my position as admin in most of the groups I used ... sorry, CLUBs ... I used to participate in.

On a positive note, I was developing a chess.com addiction which has now been cured. No twelve step program could have been as effective as V3. Thank you, Erik! I had almost forgotten how nice it is outdoors away from the computer screen.

I will finish my current games, but take on no new ones. I will also drop out of most of my clubs.

So you admitted you were powerless over chess.com and that your life had become unmanageable.

It is either a computer problem or an internet problem... i would suggest using a broadband connection and 2GB RAM in your computer.

In reference to ... what ?

Avatar of MainframeSupertasker

yeah.. when i had an old PC with a slow operating system and crashing all the time with 1 GB RAM, i had the worst experience with computers at that time, I had to fix it everyday... and stuff went sick on chess.com.. but after i bought this new laptop, all trouble ended!!

There might be too much of data working in the cache memory, try clearing it happy.png

if youre using windows, try making another USER account in the system with or without administrative privileges. That made my work faster in my PC

i once troubleshooted, and i got that my browser memory was too small... this can be the problem...

Avatar of Spacebux

If that is the case, then chess.com needs to publish a minimum specification set.

Minimum RAM size.  Minimum CPU spec.  Browser preferences & settings.  And so on.

But, I will tell you - I and many, many others had absolutely NO issue with V2.

Avatar of MainframeSupertasker

hmmm.. i had a lot issues with V2... wow.. this looks odd....

Avatar of Spacebux

well, it's a mute point - Erik has informed us that he is moving on with the 98% content of chess.com.

Here's my Home Page today -- even after clearing cache, reloading, etc.  Nothing fixes my Home page in V3.

I suppose it must be my laptop's issue.

Avatar of JustADude80

It is the Spirit of v2. It haunts these cyber halls nightly wreaking havoc on those who dare use v3.

I'm still left without a working Home Page.

Upgrading Firefox from version 60.0.1 to 62.0 has alleviated the Home Page disaster I had for the past 5 days.  Still not convinced it was a Firefox/Mozilla bug, however.  If cache was corrupted, say, what caused it is still a mystery.
