The Process of Decision Making in Chess Volume 2: Practice positions and solutions. Position 6.5.1

Hi Everyone, 

Diagram 6.5.1- black can chase white’s knight with e5, but at the cost of creating a permanent backward pawn d6 on an open file (that stays weak even if d5 is played in the future). The price for displacing white’s knight here is too high, in the form of both a worse pawn structure and a blocked g7 bishop.
Challenge: is there a better way to approach this position for black?

What about taking BXD4, keeps rooks from attacking on e7 by creating an open c file

@notabjoe it would also weaken the pawn structure of white one cXd4.  I don't see how it would prevent the Rooks from attacking e7 however.

Can white still capture on e7 after black exchanged white's knight?

Can but after rxe7 black takes rook and white faces check mate if he takes the bait

It looks like he can because of the additional Rook protecting the new rook on e7.
