The Rules

ShiViChess's League consists of 4 divisions (North, East, West, South), with 3 teams in each division. Here's how it works:

Each team, when playing, will play 1 team match with 1 day per move and 2 concurrent games, and 2 vote chess games with 12 hours per move: one as white, and one as black.

During the first ten weeks, the teams play within their division. Two teams face off against each other for three weeks, while the third team in the subdivision doesn't play any games. This is done for nine weeks, with one extra catch-up week, making ten weeks total. Afterwards, the teams in each division will be ranked from 1 to 3.

During the next ten weeks, teams play interdivision games. The teams ranked 1 will face off against each other, the teams ranked 2 will face off against each other, and the teams ranked 3 will face off against each other. This is done for nine weeks, with one extra catch-up week, making ten weeks total. Afterwards, all the teams will be ranked from 1 to 12.

From there, we go into a double-elimination playoffs. There are eight rounds, each three weeks long, with one catch-up week between each round. After thirty-two weeks, the playoffs are over, and final standings will be up for everybody to see.

If there is a tie, and the two teams have played each other previously in the season, then the results of those games will be used to determine who advances. If they tied there as well, then we will use the catch-up week to play one speed vote chess game between the two groups. The game will be played at 10 minutes per move, so you better be fast!

The team matches aren't going to be finished in a week

each round is for 2 weeks, not a week, and if they aren't finished in a week, then the match will be based upon the completed games. if there are no completed games, or the score is tied, then the results of the vote chess game will be the results of the team match.

well, if they aren't, then the match will be counted as a loss for both teams, and that will affect their stats badly.

He's right. With luck they'll be finished in a month. If you cut them off after a week, losing teams will drag them out to stay in it. Not one team match will be over within a week.

ShiViChess

Well, there is also a slow season, but for the Speedee season, you have to be fast (Under 6 hrs per move)

PsychoMath

So play fast or lose... gotchaSmile

EuropeanSon

Think about it. If each player has average speed of 4hrs per move, each move takes 8 hrs. That's 3 moves per day, 21 per week. All games won't be over in 21 moves. Most of my games take around 30, but some can take 60.

ShiViChess

Yes, but usually people that fast are making as many moves as possible, but then the average goes down when a bunch of games pile up and you can't move then because you're sleeping.

When do games start up?

When there is a team leader for every team, and by the speed that we're getting new team leaders, I think that it will take a year to get enough members, and 10 years for the members to actually choose a team.

We need to do some serious advertising.
