I loved that book. I stupidly loaned it to a friend who is not very good at keeping track of things that don't belong to him. Thanks for reminding me. I really ought to just buy it again.

Cool Fonix! thanks a lot

I can vouch for this book... it really is quite good, and very compact and portable to boot!
I snagged my copy from Books-A-Million, who also has a website www.bamm.com
I think it was only ten bucks, too!
What I like most about it, is that it has a little bit of everything: space, tempo, pawn structure, tactis, strategy, physchology, even philosophy. A neat little catch-all volume easy enough to carry around.

Does anybody have any books similar to this one that they would also recommend? I would like to expand my chess library and am open to suggestions

Another book with similar execution is Pandolfini's Chess Complete, by Bruce Pandolfini... layed out in an extremely similar format and covering every aspect of the game as well. HOWEVER, even though I thought it was a good and helpful read, I must say that it did not use diagrams to illustrate what it was talking about... it is strictly a text-based book... and having been published in the early 1990s by the reputable Fireside Chess Library, I find this to be unforgiveable. Even so, it is imformative, well-written, and at times even lighthearted and endearing!
The Tao of Chess 200 Principles to Transform Your Game and Your Life by Chess Master Peter Kurzdorfer is an excellent read. Highly recommend it.
