I think that is a great idea and works to the right person's advantage.
Topic of stalemates
A typical way in chess to avoid stalemate is to check every move. I think it is unintuitive that it is considered stalemate before it is that players turn to move. I do not mind the player getting points for stalemate though.
If it is a knight vs knight endgame both players probably would want to trade knights to get maximum points. Will it be decided a draw before they manage to trade, after one player has captured a knight, but before a chance to recapture or after the trade is complete?
Stalemates are considered checkmate in 4 player chess and are therefore non-existent. However, we recently found out that a player that stalemates themself will receive +15 points (e.g. for checkmating themselves). I actually like that as it makes it rewarding to be stalemated (just like in standard Chess). Let me know what you guys think? See the image below:
