1) Yes

2) Yes

3) No. The idea to enter the tournament chat room in LIVE chess bypasses friending. When you enter the tournament chat room in LIVE chess, just post a comment so that I can see you're in there and that I can include you in the pairing chart. A link to the pairings will appear in the tournament chat room in LIVE chess between 11:50 USA ET & 12:00 USA ET. Then, one of the paired players will «right-click» his opponent's (bypassing friending) username. That will make the usual window that we need for LIVE game challenging appear.

So, there's no need for advanced registration? Is there any way to see who has signed up in advance?

@ SmyslovFan -- I'm not sure to understand your question. What does «advanced registration» mean? And what does «seeing who has signed up in advance» mean?

But I'll try my best! Cool The players must enter the tournament group to play. This is certain. Let's call this «in advance». In order to be considered for the pairings in a certain round, those same players will have to enter the tournament chat room in LIVE chess and post a comment so that I can notice their presence and pair them. If you're not a member of the tournament group, you won't access the tournament chat room in LIVE chess. Checking-in must occur, in the case of a game played @ 12:00 USA ET, between 11:40 USA ET & 11:50 USA ET. Notice how close to game starting time this is. No time for «looking at who's in there» and then decide. Try to imagine my problems if every player would do that.Laughing

There are also tourneys with games to be played @ 00:00 USA ET = 21:00 USA PT. Those tourneys are called «Eastern 45|45» & Eastern 90|30. In this case, checking would occur between 23:40 USA ET & 23:50 USA ET. I'm mentionning because I'm aware of your playing schedule. Note that I have not tried to see if you're signed-up for anything. The fact that you're posting here doesn't mean that you're in, as all the inside forums are accessible to the outsiders, as opposed to the negotiated events, which were all private.

I am hopefully correct in thinking that 12:00 USA ET = 17:00 GMT Embarassed

If so I would like to participate.

Thanks in advance

I had a senior moment, I guess. That link leads to this forum here! I should have suggested to look at page 1 instead. Foot in Mouth

I guess I'm still unclear on the concept.

Does everyone who is a member of the club get paired, or only those who check in before the round starts? (I'm guessing the latter.)

Avatar of SylvainCourtemanche

Ya, The latter. The point is that I cannot guarantee that all the players will show up to play. Instead, I'm expecting that 50% of the registered players (the ones member of the tournament group) will miss games. I don't want to pair people who will find something more interesting to do when comes the time to play and don't let me know. Pairing the players who are in LIVE chess (in the tournament chat room, that is) is the solution. That's why checking-in is so close to starting the game (10 - 20 minutes).

Avatar of SmyslovFan

That's what I was getting at earlier. So, there's no way to know who we will play until we get there. That's fine, I just wanted clarification.
