Trophies.

Anyone else think some of the trophies you can give a friend/opponent are too snarky?  Passive/aggressive?  1) You look hungry - have some breakfast   ... When do you ever say this to someone in real life,  "You look hungry?"  And it's ridiculous, because the receiver knows I don't know how he looks.

2) Here, have some coffee to wake up the mind.  This implies their mind needs awakened ... basically an insult.  I'm sure there are more.

I want to send a new friend a trophy as a compliment, but some of these, I can see be taking the wrong way.

I think it all depends on the message that you send.  I send coffees all the time- because who doesn’t like a coffee? But a sweet message always goes with it.  Some of the snarky ones also can be sweetened with nice messages.

Natalie's right. Sometimes you can tell it is snark, but I don't think it's a big deal. I'd like a better way of organizing them myself. I could put all the snark ones in one grouping and see which category ends up with the most happy.png

You just overthinking it. Those two examples: the common sense and the basic logic say that the person that sends the trophies can't have any idea how do I look or if I need to wake my mind (I do 😀). So, he/she just sends the breakfast or coffee. Which is nice. I tend to believe that on chess site people do use logic and common sense.
And I never send those trophies. 😀

I like sending the coffee one as well,  but I wish it just said,  "from a friend" ,  or simply, "Have some coffee."

It would be good to group them. That’s a good idea.  !

I commented a while ago about the trophies and how you can't change the comments that are on them. Most of them are not very applicable and any marketing person could come up with a vast array of better ones with better comments attached to them. I think the folks commenting here would be a good group to come up with new trophies.🏆🤗

Just made a more appropriate coffee one.

There is also a thing called Banter Chess or the famous chess hustlers who like to talk trash while playing chess. I dont think there is anything wrong with some harmless banter, but I understand that this isnt as easy online and especially in todays sensible society. If I was sending trophies (to friends), the coffee one would be one Id be using a lot. grin.png
