If there is only one very clearly logical one move it shouldn't be classified as a

the move 13 choices are:

The Fix:
Be more discriminating when assigning . If all other moves are more than x points worse just classify as .

The reasoning behind great moves, are when clearly other moves are possible but given on position, when clearly the best "great move" attacks and defends pieces. It would be a great move because it does both at the same time, and adhering to basic principles such as attacking the center.

Well in short.... you can only make great moves if your opponent makes very bad moves, lol.. that's a great move = super sarcastic best move LOL that is obviously a blunder on the other end, leading to this "classification" KEKW

Words are always tricky and also strategy is. I've made "bad moves" and as my opponent didn't expect that in all his guessings, I ended up with a "great move". It's like life, maybe you dont expect the beautiful girl will dance with you but, suddenly, she comes to you because she prefers a clever one better than a lot of muscles...tongue

I agree. This is similar to noting "forced moves" when no other option is available instead of classifying as "best".

That's pretty much the only definition of a Great Move

https://support.chess.com/article/2965-how-are-moves-classified-what-is-a-blunder-or-brilliant-and-etc

Great Move is a new move classification that is denoted by a single exclam (!). These are moves that were critical to the outcome of the game, such as going from losing to equal, equal to winning, or finding the only good move in a position. Similar to Brilliant moves, we are more generous on what we call a Great Move for new players compared with high-rated players.

Though maybe the difference might be that if the move is a recapture, that shouldn't count.

Right. The indicated move was a delayed recapture, but it counted. OP is rated fairly high, so it probably shouldn't have counted.

There were multiple captures/recaptures happy

It was a recapture to maintain material balance.
