The programmers and UI designers seem to fail to appreciate the key point "It's the moves!" being displayed. So maximizing the display area for the moves should be the primary consideration. All the surrounding ornamentation is less critical.
Another observation is that there is ample wasted horizontal space. On my display in Chrome at 100% zoom this green real estate is available.
So maybe a paradigm shift is in order to free up some display space for move display. After all It's the moves!
Instead of this
here is a roughly cobble together mockup where the panel navigation panel is vertically presented:
This approach free up space on the Analysis panel and for Analysis it would free up space as well.
From this layout capable of only showing a 1/2 a line of game info:
to this rough mockup, showing 2 game lines:
I hope this suggestion can motivate the UI Developers to solve the continuing erosion of the move panel display and to remember to understand the guiding principal of the move panel: It's the moves!"
Edit: Maybe the side navigation panel would be better presented using the full height, not sure:
In general the display panel is vertically challenged. That is to say there is too little room for too much stuff. Recent "improvements" to the layout have made the situation even worse. See Bug [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]: New Game Review Layout - tab change & lost real estate for move listing
Previous layout improvement suggestions have gone unheeded., (UI Suggestion [ ]: Analysis Report sidebar menu layout improvement and UI Suggestion [ ]: Analysis Report's Save/Saved button - make it visible all the time and UI Suggestion [ ]: Another argument for repositioning the Save/Saved button) so it may be pointless to make yet another suggestion but here goes.
