Using the Scandinavian to beat an 1850 rated opponent

@MLP8 I saw you considering switching from Scandinavian to Caro so I thought this would interest you

Conclusions:

  • Scandinavian can still be effective against higher rated opponents as the "refutations" require white to play all the best moves which is hard to do in a defense which is so open and complex
  • 1800s still blunder
  • I need to work on my time management

Here's an example where White (in this case me) acted actively against the Scandi and blasted Black's position apart, Black should remember that the b-pawn is often poisoned!

why 5. qb6? why 8. qxb2? bleh, too foolhardy. Of course if your opponent makes no attempt at developing pieces normally or getting his king safe, you'll have a good position

2… Nf6 is superior! Just joking. Nice game!
