Have you tried changing your theme? Themes such as "Light," "Tournament," and "Sky" have a very different feel, and are much brighter. You might like them better.

Thanks for the feedback, Robert! I have to admit - I had the same reaction! But now I can't stand using V2 anymore!! 
All change requires adjustment...
I just cant stand to use V3. I will not pay for that since I cant bare to use it. Somewhere we forgot about simplicity in design. I come to play and should be able to play in one click. Really the lack of chat embeded in the tactics is a deal killer. Ill hang around and wait well they work on it. But things need a real going over to ensure minimilasation. The recent changes to the menu system was a big step forward. But the PC experiance needs more work.

I will admit, that confuses me. Maybe we are talking about two different things, but I never have any difficulty playing in one click.
Now, I do think not embedding the comments in Tactics is a little weird, but I do understand it to a point: One might not want to see the comments (which may hold the answer to the problem) if they intend to try again until solving it. But still, I do think it is weird that the comments are on a new page, and that the newest comment is on the top instead of the bottom. I do think that could be fixed.
But in every other way that I can think of, I much prefer V3.
I personally DO NOT like the look of V3. It's too dark and clumsy for my liking.
When I first came to chess.com, I immediately found that the website was easy-to use, a nice bright layout, and enough enjoyable features to make this the best site on the internet.
V3, although it comes with some new features, makes me struggle.
