honestly idk. if bsrti and others comes back, then variants will become higher quality due to their influence over the community. if FFA becomes more popular, then more strategy will come from it and players will become used to it, making more FFA variants

There's no such thing as an "official" challenge (although Pocket Chess is the only one listed under the Directory for its notability), so I would say that that's a bit biased on your end
