Variants Server Suggestions [Post-4PC Merge]

Set rating range custom like before. Now it's bad, the whole creating a game process, to be honest.

Suggestion:

Make "Show All Variants" be turned on by default, and the user can manually switch it off. I've seen some complaints that people haven't been able to find members to play with them because their games aren't being seen. This might help that.

agree with you and this new standard is so rusted we really need the old one back

Suggestion

Giveaway rules in chat box. They was at first time, but now they're not showing. In that case many new players forfeit early, because they don't know the rules

It's more a draw than 1-0

I think this counts as a suggestion. What do you think, Variants Admins?

how about... a normal 4pc chess game without corners?

Then what stops each side from having pieces adjacent to each other? Plus, the original form of 4 Player Chess used this exact board...

What would be cool would be an option for Variants 960 where pieces in variants can be mixed up at the start of the game. Maybe a tool to select squares where pieces for each color can go when the computer randomly places pieces in random squares.

added new chess piece is cannon xiangqi

with a shape resembling a cannon

I would like to suggest an improvement to game lobby. I would like to filter only anonymous games. It would be great if this feature can be added. Thanks!

A variant idea:

Last One Standing:

The objective of the game is to be the last player remaining on the board after all other players have been eliminated. In the rare case that 2-4 players are both left on the board when there is a 50-move rule or  repetition, the remaining players all share the 1st place. If there are at least two players left, then all but one of those are stalemated (only by themselves), they still can share 1st place.

I'm sure there are clubs that would enjoy playing custom arenas and tournaments. I know I would have fun with it.

@roadrunner18 I agree. Makes it more fun!

New rules!

Let's be serious

The rule that I give is the Bouncing Chess rule

Chess variant where the diagonally moving pieces ( bishop, queen, archbishop, dragon bishop, alfil-rider,alibaba-rider,Grasshopper ) can bounce off from the left and the right sides of the board, so that they can continue their path bent by 90 degrees.

For example:

Note: the moves of the pieces must really touch the edge of the chessboard for the move to be bent and turned on.

I've updated the post with all recently-suggested ideas.

Also a note to say that past this point, someone else (i.e. admins) can take over updating this. I'm not active enough on the forums anymore to follow what's going on here.
