That's actually a neat variant, but white probably has a very major first-move advantage. Try add some variety, or test with some experienced creators!

What do you think?

i think using a PGN4 or game link is better, we can’t see the rules from this.

Avatar of yu-x897

provide a testing game instead would be better
Also we can't see game-rules with only FEN

Maybe this link will work.

do you know if whites first move advantage makes it too imbalanced

because of the dead pieces it takes a lot longer for pieces to get developed and black has ample time to defend pawn rushes towards the black king

Avatar of yu-x897

black has time to defend doesn't mean that white's first-move tempo won't give it more time to defend; Tiny torpedoes was much much much much better, in comparison.

this is a variant that I made I have been trying to play some testing games but people keep resigning. what are your thoughts on it?

After capturing wildebeest white can probably at least end up with 3fold checking

I don't think so because you will run out of checks as the square that you need move to is defended by a pawn giving black time to place a defensive king or queen

the fact that white can spawn an another one too

Here's a variant I made that I like to call "bowling". The goal for white is to push their "pins" down the lane to eventually promote one into a king, winning them the game. Black has one rook, or "ball" to stop them doing so. One problem I've found so far is that it is very easy for black to punish any mistake that white makes, where even one captured pawn will lead to the rook infiltrating white's position and decimating it. However, if white finds the right pawn moves, it is fairly easy for them to make steady progress towards victory, with black being powerless to stop them unless they employ the right strategy. I haven't played many games of it yet so I would be interested in any feedback anyone may have. Thanks!

what is this pawn game bro

Avatar of NinjaLis

Oh hey! I remember you.

How does this look? This is supposed to be a very positional-oriented variant. Sideways pawns and spectator chat are enabled. And pawns can promote to a bishop, camel, general, king, or rook.

I dont think you should make large position with many unneccessary pieces. I think an 8x8 or 10x10 variant is much easier to make.
