Soy vegeteriana (female) veteteriano (male). Spanish : I am a vegetarian.
I am a vegetarian. = Ich bin Vegetarier. (German)

(portuguese)

That's quiet interesting thread !
IN HIndi(our national language) :- Mai shakahari hun !
Marathi (my state language & mother tongue ):- Mi shakahari aahe !
Shakahar = shaka + ahar
shaka= branch of a tree
ahar + diet
Shakahari= one who takes "shakahar"

More Spanish: Soy vegano (male) / vegana (female) - I'm vegan
"¿Esto lleva carne?" - Does it contain meat (if you're going to Spain, you need to tack on "ni jamon, ni pescado, ni huevo", as ham, fish and eggs seems to count as vegetarian options here)

It's quiet surprising how can ham,fish or eggs be counted as vegetarean ?

I should say that it is getting better, but it's good to ask the waiter just in case. I've turned back many a tuna and egg vegetarian salad, and there have a been a few times where we've ordered a simple pasta, garlic and vegetable dish and discovered that it came with diced ham which wasn;t mentioned on the menu.

I think in alost every countries, there are dificulty in find vegetarian food...it shouldn' t be that way...we have the rigth to choose our own food...

In our contry,the circumstaces are much better !
The major diet is a vegeterian one & when some body has to eat non-veg in a restaurant ,they have order specifically !The only thing is that ,though an animal product , milk is not considered a non-veg here ,as it is not obtained by killing an animal .Same is the case of honey .
In some families ,they won't allow even the touch of the non-veg dish to a veg dish or even cooking of the non-veg in the same kitchen as that of the veg ! For my dear cat ,i had to buy a separated gas stove to cook non-veg out side ,when i started to give him home made cat food after we had a shortage of his favourite Viscus - ready made cat food !
Hi everybody!
I believe this is an international group, so naturally we have members from a lot of different countries who speak a lot of different languages.
I thought it might be a good idea to start this thread, where native speakers can post words and phrases from their language, that are relevant to a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.
Such as, how to order vegetarian food at a restaurant, etc.
If anybody wants/needs any german language help (even if not related to chess or vegetarianism) I will be glad to be of assistance if my time permits. You may feel free to send me a private message.
Native speakers are always preferable to google translate.
Please post relevant questions, words and phrases etc here.
Thanks for participating!
