General is King + Knight, and Hawk (renamed to Archbishop) is Bishop + Knight.
Royal pawns are allowed to promote as long as it doesn't promote into check (i.e. there is a rook on the promotion rank)

What does the royal pawn promote to? Same as the non-royal ones in the 2nd row and sergeants in the 1st?
And what is that queer piece next to one of the knight in villagers II version? Is it the chaturanga ferz? Really, the rule description there leaves many questions unanswered.

In Villagers Chess (I), the royal pawn, along with all other pawns (including the "non-royal ones in the 2nd row and sergeants in the 1st), has the choice of promoting to a bishop, king, knight, or rook, on the 8th rank.
In Villagers Chess II, all the pawns have the option of promoting to a chancellor, archbishop, general, or knight rider.
Regardless of what the variant is, what the rules of said variant are, what the pieces in that variant are, or how they move, all pawns will always promote on the rank specified, and players only have the options to promote to the pieces specified.
I hope that clarifies your doubts.

Got some questions about the rules here, because the rule description provided doesn't cover everything.
1. Is the royal pawn promotable? If yes, what does it promote to?
2. What is meant by general in the villagers chess II? King+knight? And what does the piece called hawk do?
