Hello group members, this is the official week 8 match prediction contest thread.  Here, you will post your picks for the upcoming week's matches.  Please refer to the "2010 Weekly Match Prediction Contest" article in the group news for rules of the game.  Listed below are the matches set for the upcoming week.  Below the list is the deadline set for you to turn in your picks.  Please make a post to this thread indicating your selections for this week.  Good luck, and have fun!

Week 8 Match Prediction Contest Results

The following are the picks made by members who participated in the week 8 contest.  They are listed by:  Member name; followed by the names of the teams they predicted correctly, and end with a total number of games correct.

In week 8 we had 2 members who tied for the most correct predictions.  By contest rules, we then applied tie-breakers to determine the weekly winner.

Our first tie-breaker is to determine which member's match points came closest to those scored in the actual U.S.C.L. matches.  Listed below are the results of the first tie-breaker.  We started by listing the League match results:  Game number; Team(s) that won (or tied); and the points scored (points in parentheses).  This is followed by each member's match predictions:  Game number; followed by points predicted (points in parentheses).

U.S.C.L. week 8 results - 1. NY/MAN Tie - (2), 2. BAL - (2.5), 3. DAL - (3), 4. ARZ - (2.5), 5. NE - (2.5), 6. CAR/BOS Tie - (2), 7. STL - (2.5), 8. MIA - (3). = 20 Pts.

After the first tie-breakers, both players were still tied.  By tie-breaker rules, we then examined the first weekly match, between New Jersey and Manhattan.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.  We compared the player's predictions for that match, to see who had the closest result.
