What are the different club roles?

Clubs are a great way to meet new players with your same interests, and to participate in club matches, vote chess, and more! There are several roles with different abilities you can use to manage your club.

Club Roles

Coordinator

A coordinator can create a Club Match, create a Club Tournament, or start a new Vote Chess. Coordinators do not have the ability to promote, ban, add or otherwise manage members.

Below are the club management options a Coordinator has:

Admin

The Admin role has all the abilities of the Coordinator, plus can write News posts, and invite, ban, demote and promote members (Admins can not promote to Super Admin, and can not ban or demote Super Admins. See this article for steps on replacing an inactive super admin

Super Admin

The Super Admin has all the abilities of the Admin and Coordinator, in addition they can edit the club, remove closed accounts, and promote other users to Super Admins. The member who created the club is the first Super Admin, and the only one who can create other Super Admins. All Super Admins have the ability to demote and remove other Super Admins! So be careful who you choose to promote!

I still think coordinators to be useful need to be able to post news.  How can you manage matches if you can’t send out news.

The other thing is coordinators can’t invite groups to daily tournaments.

This is from a chess.com article, it does state "All Super Admins have the ability to demote and remove other Super Admins! So be careful who you choose to promote! "

You can’t remove the owner.  Did some experiments in the last week or so.

The coordinator has a link to "New Match" which is to a daily club match.

Yes, SA who created the club, is known as the "Owner" and cannot be demoted or kicked.

The only thing that could successfully be done to the owner was mute them. :-).  Otherwise they can’t be demoted, banned or removed.

I think it is a glitch that you can mute the owner. But at least she can go back in and un-mute  herself.

This is a bug that should be reported.

We were just checking what an owner could do and the owner was muted.  And they had to be unmuted.  They couldn’t do it themselves.

Have some screen captures but it was done in a private club and don’t really want to put them here which is why I only showed the message above.

We decided it must be if the owner says something inflammatory and could be muted by the team.

Could you provide a screenshot indicating that the owner cannot un-mute herself? That being the case, makes it a more serious glitch.

Might have retest that.  The person I tested it with isn’t online.  Unless you’d like to quickly do a test.

An SA even he is not the founder can promote other admins to SA

What does the "Sync Member Count" button do?

Avatar of Kookaburrra

Just syncs the member number on the club profile to the number on the member list so they are the same.  Sometimes it seems to get out of sync.  It’s harmless if you wish to do it.

I read a discussion yesterday that coordinators could also cancel matches. I haven't tested that yet myself but that's not listed under the coordinator abilities.

Actually a coordinator can't organise vote chess games. I've tried.
