good question, let's just show you a map and then I will go into it
that is how far it is from each other on a map and for the rest I am going to talk about a lot of things that make them different from each other
first off the pace is very different in both areas so for Tokyo it is very fast-paced and very quick while Kyoto is more calmer and peaceful (thank the gods for that XD)
the tourism that attracts people to them, for Tokyo that is the nightlife and the shopping districts there, for Kyoto it is the ancient temples and Shinto shrines that make people come and visit there
last but not least the culture of both of them are very different
Tokyo culture is a blend of both modern and traditional culture and there are many kinds of culture there while Kyoto culture is mostly traditional Japanese culture instead
and well that is the whole lesson XD
