This took me a wee bit of time to get use to...but I think I like it better - it's not worse to my mind at any rate, finding it more appealing as time goes on.

I like it better design-wise, but I believe it is worse as far as practicality and function go.

I think chess.com did a good job, you just have to get used to the layout, everything works the same as before

I just mean I liked clicking the logo at the top a bit more than clicking the bell at the bottom. To be fair, that’s probably just because I’m still getting used to it.

Then they should make it an option for some users to switch back to the old one, Then it is fair

That kind of 'fair' to appease people would just result in an increasing jumbled mess of code.

I get it, people don't like 'change'...but that's life.

I think the reason they changed it was that this layout supports new updates a bit better. If there were 2 sidebars, they would have to change each one when making an update. Cornfed, random question. Was the sidebar that got replaced the same sidebar back when you joined chess.com?

Good question...and I can't say for sure - that was so long ago. If it was, obviously what I said applies to me in that I adapted.
