dragon.

If you are below 2000 just try something easier for black as a response to e4. There are plenty of dynamic alternatives with less theory than the sicilian

ChessGangsta42

just play caro-kann instead of sicilian if u are below 2000

Hi!

In my opinion, the choice of the Sicilian variation has to do with your likes or dislikes of the positions that arise and time your available for study.

For instance I like the Dragon because I like fianchettos in general, but it is too theoretical and requires a lot of study, so I do not play it.

Good luck!

Obvi Dragon

The_Chef2264

it has soo many cool sacrifices

The_Chef2264

Don't try to learn too much theory it ruins the fun

Najdorf is really complicated, Dragon is really good if they aren't hyper prepared, accelerated dragon is lame but they HAVE TO play Maroczy. Scheveningen is too positional, Kalashnikov is REALLY dynamic, Sveshnikov is a commital Kalashnikov, Classical is a little dynamic but not really, Kan is beginner level, Four Knights is great, Taimanov is awesome too.
Dont listen to the people above, play the opening you want to play.

Recently started playing the Taimanov sicilian. So far I like it.

I mean the Najdorf is one of the main openings used by Black to try to win (against e4)… it’s complicated, but if you’re looking for dynamic play, it has a lot.

The Kan has some, but I feel like it’s not really that much.

I play the Taimanov, which is similar in move order to the Kan (main difference is that you wait a bit before playing a6), and it is (in my opinion) quite a bit more dynamic than the Kan.

There are other good options in the Sicilian, such as the Dragon, Sveshnikov, and Kalashnikov (there are probably a bunch others that I’m forgetting).
