Let's see...according to your logic, since humans are technically apes, people should be comfortable being called apes. Honestly, I'm also wondering why people get mad if you call them an ape.

Intention matters, 90% of times people are calling someone apes is because they deliberately wants to insult. 90% of time people call anime cartoon because they see similarities in them, seeing both something animated, and for them, the word 'cartoon' is not offensive. Archaeologist offcially may classisy fossil of stoen age humans as ales, also adding further information of sub-species like hominims or homosepians, there calling apes is not offensive because the intention is different

Okay true but imagine comparing an Ferrari to an fiat 500 and saying it's the same they're both cars man that's just stupid

In that context you said, I am just calling ferrari a car, not comparing it to fiat 500

Well you do because you can't call a Ferrari a regular car you know it's a sports car

Wrap it up gng 💔💔💔

"Honestly, I'm also wondering why people get mad if you call them an ape." Mate, are you trying to argue against yourself???

Why do Germans get mad when you talk about the past of their country

90% of the time you cannot determine the intentions of people since they won't tell you. The intentions are dependent on what the listener perceives. For us, labelling a high class rich story telling format, anime, as similar to children's cartoons is offensive. Just like people thinks being labelled as an ape is offensive. If you cannot understand it then idk.

That thing is people view things opposite than they actually are. No one calling anime inferior but still people think anime being called cartoons make them appear inferior but it doesn't. For me, anime being cartoons too show cartoons are not always childish and can have serious, and good storyline with excellent animations and narration but anime fans view it as opposite seeing that if anime are called cartoons then it may seem anime are childish but everyone knows anime are not childish

Yep, you thinking that doesn't mean the majority who call anime "cartoons" are not trying to mock anime. I've met many people who say "Anime? Isn't that just (children's) cartoons??" with "children's" may or may not be present but the meaning stays the same.

When i think of a cartoon, i think of "Tom n Jerry", "Scooby-Doo" etc! Fun to watch for little ones.

Anime though is probably aimed at a completely different age class (young teenagers) as the story lines can be sinister and involve killing and bloodshed.

In my opinion, these cartoons like the "Road Runner" along with the others i`ve mentioned don`t have X-rated versions....So they are safe for a young one to watch!

Saying that, a time ago i met a lady from Ukraine who wouldn`t allow her little boy of 4 to watch "Tom n Jerry" as apparently it had too much bashing in it!

Kind of true. The problem is not "calling anime cartoons" but the problem is thinking cartoons are for kids. I have school cartoons who appreciate and like the anime, carious of them but agree that they by technical terms are considered cartoons. Anime fans who don't accept anime as cartoons actually just see non-anime cartoons has kids content, that cannot be good. But we really have cartoons that not always childish like "What if" by Marvel, "Infinity war Interlude", etc.

In general the words "cartoon" and "comic" have a impression of being for children, so anime fans experience outrage when anime are labelled in the same group. Also in general anime are of higher production, graphics, and animation quality, and usually with intriguing storylines, deeper emotional themes, and rich storytelling, so again saying anime are cartoons is commonly associated with belittlement. Finally, many Americans and uneducated Westerners use that kind of phrasing to express superiority of their culture, as cartoons are Western styled and anime are Eastern styled.

That's exactly what I'm saying and you unintentionally agreed to me. The problem I said and you mentioned is the true problem, everything you said, but that has nothing to do with "literal" classification and technically how things are named. The problem is how things are viewed. Someone trying to call anime inferior is wrong, I agree its wrong to call anime or any culture inferior but in terms of technical classification anime are considered cartoon. As per what I said calling any culture inferior is wrong and thus I also hate when non-anime cartoons are said inferior. No culture is superior to others but still entire internet calling what's not anime as inferior to anime. One more thing I want to say is the reason why anime has develop much is not because its anime but because mostly animators and story-writers who made anime made really amazing content, and they had a huge audience so it may take decades or at least years but if we can connect audience with support of non-anime artists we too can make non-anime cartoons good and remove the taboo of cartoons being childish. One last thing, If someone says "Anime are cartoons" to disrespect anime then its justified to be enraged but my opinion is that if someone says "Anime are cartoons" due to technical classification and he/she still respects anime then its completely fine to say so

Cartoon: a film using animation techniques to photograph a sequence of drawings rather than real people or objects.

Anime: a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children.

Take a look.
