I don't know.
Who taught you how to play chess

I was taught by my best friend at school when I was 11 and instantly fell in love with the game. After he explained the moves to me we played a game and I won !
I then played constantly during the school holidays against a much older friend and got "wupped" every game. I decided to try out for the school chess team and scraped in on Board 6. Soon worked my way up to Board 2 and then made it into the Staffordshire U14,U16 and U18 teams. Left school at 17 and until I found this site only played a handful of games. Now at 59 I am really enjoying the game all over again.

can you help ?
that sould be nice but i do the job so long there is a little bit action ?

I learned in junior high school one day when we were bored. It was towards the end of the school year so they didn't have much for us to do but sit around. Me and another kid found a chess set and learned the rules from the instructions in the box. Loved it ever since. I just turned 30 and I'm just now starting to learn more about the game. I want to make the jump from casual player to being a competitor. Looks like I've got a long while to go, but I'm having fun!

I played chess since I was a kid.Learned from reading books, played with friends.Since joined chess.com improved a lot but not a good player.Always make silly mistakes.Any way thanks.
ok your the same like me but thanks for joining this team .

There are 3 teams insite

I learnt from a chess teacher at my school when I was 4. He actually taught my older brother, who was 8, but I sat in on the lessons and enjoyed it far more than him, so he started teaching me instead.

I was taught chess by my grade 5 teacher. She held a tournament during lunches. Finished second and have been hooked ever since. But only really started improving when I joined Chess.com in 2007. I've only ever played for fun and never really studied the game but all the credit goes to my grade 5 teacher for teaching me the game.
What I find comical about it today when I think back, is she hardly knew how to play. I think she knew the basic moves and maybe a mate 4 which she showed us. But nothing more than that.

For me, it is my father. It began when I was 5-6 years old. I guess I was interested by this weird looking game (I mean it, two players sitting in front of each other, a board with wood pieces on it in between).
At first, I hated chess (how can you love a game when you always get clean off). However, in high school, my friends dragged me by force into the school chess's club. I have to thank them now because without this action, I wouldn't have been able to play chess (and I am still learning, still).

I mostly learned what I know about the game from my father. I'll occasionally look up something chess-related online or read it in a book for further learning.
