It fun for me because it really helps me calm down and it is a good mental exercise for me.
Why is Chess Fun For You?

Its competition....I am always wanting to get better and like have more knowledge on different openings. Plus the opening variations are always new and exciting. Can we just acknowledge the prep that Vidit threw at Hikaru like its crazy that people are constantly making news crazier as the game evolves.
I like that answer

Chess is fun for me because it's 100% skills and 0% luck.
(Although this could generate interesting debates on luck perspectives, e.g.: I'm well rested, my opponent hadn't slept enough and was hungry/thirsty, so I got "lucky" they weren't in their best shape at that time, etc.)

chess is not fun for me because when im losing i get scared
Then why do you play chess?

@Wind - chess, the game, itself, has no luck component. And that is why I like the game. I test my wits against a situation that is endlessly varied, and I must find my own way.
BUT...
Chess is played by people who compete against each other. And human competition is filled with luck and psychology. And that is also why I like it!

Chess does have no luck, but the people who play it have to consider luck factors. Does that make sense?
Just tell me why.
