Great fighting games going on in the Women's World Championship. It looks like Humpy will have to employ a sharper opening with the  Black pieces. She is playing the Petroff and there is not enought tension in the positions for Hou to feel threatened; I think Humpy is/has gotten some of her ideas playing with the Black pieces from Anand.

Let's see if Humpy can make a comeback. I like the coverage on chessbomb Live chess site.Yifan Hou is very good and with age will only get better. Would love to see Judit Polgar play the winner though I doubt she will ever do that.

Game 6 and in mutual time pressure Yifan Hou defeats Humpy Koneru to take a 2 game lead.

In a match I think hands down Judit would beat Yifan or Humpy; Just think, she has been playing against the elite Men since she was a child. Also, if anyone wants to see the game AND the players live while they are playing you can go to http://www.wwcc2011tirana.com/template.php?pag=1&tongue=ENG

Game 8 ends in a draw and Hou Yifan retains her title. Congrats to her. She has a long and bright future ahead.

Humpy tried hard but could not make it. I think she needs a rest and maybe a hard look at her games later.

Anyway, I enjoyed watching these two women  playing live chess on that Albanian web site. Smile

Winner and still Champ...Yifan Hou !! Hou will be on top of Women's chess for awhile now. Will she get as strong as Judit Polgar? The potential is there.

The chess world should demamnd a Yifan Hou-Judit Polgar Match..

Congrats again to Hou. Koneru is pretty good also.

Why would Judit not play against them? Does Judit only play in men tournaments?

When Judit plays in the Olympiads for Hungary, the section is called the "Open" section because it includes whoever is strong enough.  Judit has no interest (that I have ever heard of) in playing for the Women's Championship.  Maybe if Hou Yifan becomes strong enough, Judit will play a match.  If the demand that soulpower74 made in post 7 is echoed all over the world, then a match could be likely.
