World Cup of Chess Openings

Are we interested in participating in the upcoming World Cup of Chess Openings vote chess tournament?  It sounds like it would mean two simultaneous vote chess games at a time control of 2 days per move, and to participate we have to decide what gambit we would like to play in advance.  Are people interested?  What openings would you like to try?

latvian :D everyone says its unsound, let's prove them wrong... I also wouldn't mind trying the elephant gambit! yourself?

I've played in a vote chess game with Gambit Gang in the Elephant Gambit as I recall.  We managed to beat D'Chessbomb a very strong team, but that was more in spite of the opening rather than because of it.  A lot will depend on what kind of other teams sign up for this tournie.  The Black event will be seperate from the White event, and it sounds like Billium248 would like us to choose one or the other.  As Black, we might get paired off against the 1...g6 Modern Defence, Scandinavian 1.e4 d5 and the Budapest Gambiteers.

I've played the Halloween Gambit, King's Gambit, Scotch Gambit and Smith-Morra more than anything else.  Lately, I've been playing the Sicilian Wing Gambit, Nanu Gambit with success.  I wonder if they would let us choose a wild Latvian sideline such as the Mayet Attack Poisoned Pawn or Corkscrew.  Not sure how sound they are, but that might be up our alley.

KiNg_ChApO of Latvian Gambit Players informs me that they are going to join the World Cup of Chess Openings, so perhaps players who are interested in the Latvian Gambit might like to sign up with that team, and participate alongside them.  King's Gambit Players and Budapest Gambiteers will also be playing, so feel free to sign up with them as well.

I'm new to vote chess games but so far it's been a waste of time. The team players jus treat there moves like all that's expected of them is to cast a ballot. Rediculous ! If I'm only interested in ballots, I'll wait until November 4th to cast the only ballot which really counts. I am aware of one group that has a mandatory  expectation if a comment with each vote. Unfortunately my rating now is slightly below that group's minimum. With gambits there's all the more reason to communicate. So Rigamagician how are these vote chess games going to be run ? If it's going to be more of the silent garbage type I've already encountered I thnk I'll just go out and buy a good gambit book. Do any PREMIUM  members feel as I do, or does this simple  question get the same silent treatment ? yawn......

Some vote chess teams are better than others when it comes to having meaningful discussions.  Gambit Gang ended up not entering this particular tournament, but as I mentioned, Budapest Gambiteers and a couple of other gambit-based groups are playing.  If you take a look at the Archive of a group's completed vote games, that should give you an idea of whether that group is committed to discussion or not.
