If it is a bad opening, no grandmaster would play it in big classic tournaments. But it is still played now and they think it is good. That's why they are still playing this. I think that's prove everything and I believe it is a pretty solid opening and I know people who are really good at chess and almost all the time, he plays French

Bad bishop vs good bishop is a well-known positional concept. And while the french LSB is stuck behind the structure that doesn't make bishops who can get out like in the caro-kann soo muc better especially since in the caro you make concessions to get it out. What concessions? You play c6 first to delay e6 and develop your bishop so you don't have pressure on the center with c5.
