This may be caused by evaporating white space issue. The formatting you added could have been stripped, yielding the same text, thus the message. Newlines and leading spaces being the likely candidates.

Exactly. The system did not recognize the change, which is why I got that message. But either way, I was only editing my comment, so I don't think I should have gotten a message saying that I'm posting the same comment twice.
I now have two violations for spamming on my record because I was trying to edit a comment that was not formatting correctly. I was not posting the same comment twice, I was only editing my comment, by trying to add the in-line enters that were not showing up. The system did not recognize this change and gave me this message twice.
