Your favorite Chess books and why?

I wanted to start this topic so we could all share what we have read or are reading  currently and if the book was helpful or not. I am currently reading "Pawn Power in Chess" by Hans Kmoch. I can't say it is helping me yet because I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the chess notation in this book it is not the standard algebraic. I will keep trying to get through it though.

Thanks FlyingSandal. Where are you getting the free download? Just googled and can't find it. The revised edition however is available on amazon though.

Hi Bette, I believe you may find it here for free (PDF or other digital version). You may search for anything in the public domain and you should find just about anything for free in that category:
