Here is the first game in the Kasparov - Kramnik World Championship match of 2000. This is the the game Kramnik shocked everyone by playing the Berlin Defense - an opening that had previously been thought to give black inferior chances in the Ruy Lopez.

Zombie Openings are opening lines from the past which died out, and then were reanimated by a modern player.
Some examples include Vladimir Kramnik revitalizing the Berlin Defense and the Catalan Opening from the dusty annals of History.
In this thread we can analyze modern Zombie Openings, and also try and create our own by looking back over "outdated" lines and finding novelties which make them playable again.
