Fabiano Caruana missed a clear opportunity to gain his first win of the Kings Tournament in Bucharest in round two.
The Italian star faced Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu and seemed to have victory in sight before a crucial slip gave his Romanian opponent the chance to save the game by giving perpetual check.
Veselin Topalov and Vassily Ivanchuk played a long and closely fought game which ended in a draw. Ivanchuk had the better chances in the endgame, but it wasn't enough for victory.
Topalov will be surely be disappointed to have failed to achieve a win after having the white pieces in his first two games.
