In this daily match my oponent should have timed out but it says he is on "vacation"

What is this? and what is the time he has??? Can someone help me?

He has his knight trapped so why does he have that?? he is losing.

although... ??

he might be using vacation abuse because his knight is dead and has less pawns.

So how does me or chess.com know if he is abusing or if he is REALLY on vacation??

I've not been on the site long but I only started seeing this in the past couple of weeks and it is driving me nuts!  What is the point of specifying one day per move games if people can just bugger off like this?  Should at least only kick in with approval from your opponent!

I agree! I am playing a game where the player has used the vacation option to stall the game repeatedly. I reported it to Admin and, they must do something because then he plays again for a day or so. But then goes on vacation again! it is frustrating!

If the player is getting on and playing all other Daily games, ignoring that one, then it could considered vacation abuse.

Vacation abuse has a pretty specific definition.

Premium accounts automatically get placed on vacation when low on time in one or more games. It can't be disabled, so if you have an opponent that is still making moves and just happens to be on vacation a lot, they likely either have a lot of ongoing games so run low on time in some, or actually get busy and run low.

As long as they are not using it solely to drag out a completely hopeless position, and aren't playing other daily games, excluding yours (that aren't in no vacation tournaments), then admins won't get involved.

he is playing 13 daily games so... plus most of them he has like 3 days and of course every person needs time to do other things other than Chess.com

Still think you're kind of missing the point.  May well be using it within the rules, but if someone signs up for a one day per move game, players can use the, frankly crazy amount of, vacation time to take almost as long as they want without penalty.  If you don't want to play a game with those constraints, don't start it!

Just get on with your other games or whatever else you want to do. It's not as though it's a live game where some guy is not moving for 20 minutes in a losing position and you can't leave. Just forget about it until they return.
