I tried that. There are 5 videos, but they are far from a complete manual.

I also hope that the bad king is the ONLY bad piece, but it's hard to check, since it takes 20 min ( or more) to get that "bad, bad King" to register

We will be caught up on bad piece replacement shipments today/tomorrow at latest - sorry for the bad white king.
And don't worry - once that is replaced it will work great.

Thank you, I know you must be super busy, and I appreciate your efforts to make sure that everyone is happy.

Just making sure that I won't fall through the cracks ( just what usually happens with my luck. Lol)...

My order # 26229, maybe it does help to speed up the process.

I emailed yesterday, and received an automated reply..

Thank you again, can't wait until this will be over, and also good luck with making all your other ideas to work asap...

( maybe even adding ChessKid one of these days... haha)

I just wanted once more to say thank you for all the hard work... Since the beginning of Chess game, this is the beginning of a new play-style. I don't think that the chess has ever gone through so many "updates " in its history all together, and then some...

Also, I think that you have done impossible by making sure that the board, the pieces , and all the other details are satisfactory for most.

I saw that just now someone said that they don't like the pieces... Personally I LOVE THEM. There is no way that 1 board will always fit everyone's expectations... and Chessup, unlike Chessnut ( just as an example), have put everything in 1 ( well, technically 2, but first is history now) board.

I also have Chessnut Go, and I wish that there would be a board that would be a combination of Chessnut Go and Chessup2... just like Chessup but with magnetic pieces, the connectivity of Chessnut ( where you can download and train your own engines, connect to ChessKid ( I keep asking for this 😉), and have a travel bag included... oh, and also the checkers and Chessup's promotional piece option... This would be "GOD edition ", and I would probably never need another board. Oh, one more - the replaceable battery ( looking like 10 years into future).

I wonder how do people with many e-boards can even choose witch one to use?!? It would drive me crazy, to decise on that. Haha

For #1 - The display does flip for black - I don't understand. If you could share a video/picture of yours not doing it, I would like to see it so we could investigate.

I would like to second that my display does not seem to flip either.

I'm also unable to play chess.com bots, as it glitches out after the first move.

Other than that an awesome product.

I love my board it works well and I love playing with it on Chess.com. I am not fast enough yet to play blitz or even real rapid games OTB with the set but I'm getting close. It doesn't make any sound which I guess surprised me. Other than that it is just excellent. I can't wait to play with others OTB online.

I have recently received my chess up 2 board and have tried using it for chess.com there are a couple of very disappointing issues:

1. If I'm playing black the display does not invert so it is upside down when looking at the clock in an on-line game.

2. You are penalised time when the other player moves and you place their piece as displayed with the lights.

These two issues make it very poor for real time chess.com games

For #1 - The display does flip for black - I don't understand. If you could share a video/picture of yours not doing it, I would like to see it so we could investigate.
For #2 - blitz/bullet can be fun for a smart board, but you are going to get destroyed on rating playing anything that fast. Super fast formats are for online software chess. Smart boards are best used for 5+5, 10+0 and beyond. At those time controls, it is not really an issue.
If you want to play against other smart board users and level it out - there is a ChessUp club.

2. Even 5/2 or 3/2 can be good - it seems very hard to get games against stronger players if the delay is any longer. I know I can make my opponents move in well under 2 sec...

Basically, the more possible time delays the better. On...think it's ICC they even have 2/9....something kind of crazy, but it makes sense because once you are out of 'your opening book' you get more time to think.

I guess the bad thing about too many TC's is that it makes it harder to get a game...take 3/0 - 3/1 - 3-2...each is basically someone wanting a fast game, but because it is carved out in 3 different TC's the pool of possible match ups in cut by quite a lot. Of course, chess.com has SO MANY people playing, that might not be much of an issue. Lichess has a lot fewer playing so too many TC's there might be an issue.

I would second the thank you ...

I rotate through mine. I went for a while with the Chessnut Air, switched to the Chessnut Pro for about a month, just used the Evo for a game. As soon as they get the Lichess integration on Chessup 2 I will throw that into the rotation.

So I had a question about the Chessup 1 board. I received my board in December of 2023, and was disappointed to find out that support and add ons were removed on the website. Technically my warranty is still good and everything is still in good condition, but I was wondering if pieces were still for sale if something broke in the future.

I've also been experiencing a rather strange problem with my chessup 1 board that only started after the final firmware update, sometimes at random the lights in all of the squares will dim. Usually this occurs after checkmate and I will have to toggle the power, but sometimes it happens after a random move. Has anyone else experienced this bug?

We actually never had pieces for ChessUp 1 on the website - but always supported replacement pieces by email. You can buy replacement ChessUp 1 pieces anytime just by reaching out to us. You can also still by the ChessUp 1 accessories from us too.
Support has never been removed:
https://playchessup.com/pages/supportEverything other than the ChessUp 2 link a the top is ChessUp 1 support.

Recently received my ChessUp 2 board. Works well overall so far. Two observations if they help any:

1) For non chess.com games, under the history tab in chessup app, your history are divided by "Your Games" and "Your Board Games". "Your Games" are the ones you start within the app and always seem to save. However presumably "Your Board Games" are the bot or two player games started within the board UI.

I've noticed that most games started with the board UI are not being saved to the app. Any fix for this?

2.) Just FYI for some reason on initial set up any games under chess.com did not carry over the no lights setting mode for quite some time. After toggling connection and setting multiple times eventually have it where it works but was not immediate and don't want to mess with setting again lest it become out a sync again.

Love the board, got mine today. Sadly once piece is not being recognized. I do see the email address and will let them know. My actual question though is I wanted to try to calibrate first to make sure that didn’t fix the issue before emailing support. Everywhere I see, it can be done from the app but that button is missing under board updates, it just says learn how. Which then takes us to the ChessUp one calibration page.

has anybody figured how to calibrate a chessup2 without the calibrate board button in the app?

Thank you!!

I may be incorrect, but I'm under the assumption the Chessup 2 board does not need to be calibrated because it has piece recognition, unlike the original Chessup. If I'm wrong could someone please chime in? Because the app instructions to calibrate aren't an option since there are no "settings" buttons on the Chessup 2 to press.

Ooh maybe. I shouldn't assume ChessUp is ChessUp2 in that part of the board updates app since I could technically have both boards. I’m new and totally didn’t consider that. Definitely makes sense to me too. I’ll email them about my “bad” pawn piece. Thanks so much for your quick response!

Correct - no calibration required with ChessUp 2.
At most, you can lift and place a piece back down and it will auto calibrate. But even that is rarely needed.

Thank you for confirming! Emailing them now. bp

My board is scheduled to arrive on Friday. Bought a second as a gift that is coming in the same shipment. Hopefully the bad pieces will be worked out by then!

I hope so too. I feel bad for the company and for us. They've been incredibly responsive so I'm hoping they don't experience further manufacturing issues, it's a lot of work to remediate.

A friend told me his favorite business model is Range Rover. Asked why he said the vehicle had issues and was problematic. BUT customer service was fantastic and many customers will overlook the vehicles shortcomings.
