I loved Chessup 2 at first sight and wished to buy it. Unfortunately, I live in Brazil and the product isn't shipped to here. However, my sister in law lives in Netherlands and she was going to travel to Brazil for Christmas.
I convinced her to bring me a chessup 2 and we made the purchase. The staff of Bright Labs is amazing and after explaining them the situation, the product was sent in expedited shipping. Chessup was delivered right in time to the travel of my relative.
When I put the hands on chessup I saw that the product was amazing, but I was one of those who got a bad piece (white king).
Now I hope the team of Bright Labs send me an extra piece, otherwise my board won't work as it should need to do.

A piece is much easier to get to Brazil than the board itself.
Now for one question and I am hoping anyone with the original chessup or the new one can answer. Is there any way I can study the openings that I use on the board? I am guessing these will be add-ons once we get rolling. Maybe lessons also like they have on chess.com? Or is this strictly for playing?
In our app - there is an opening explorer (you can pick and practice a specific opening system). This will be replaced with an on board opening trainer feature.
Lessons are rolling out and they work with the app + ChessUp 1 and ChessUp 2. The app provides audio and the board is the interaction and lights show various concepts. These lessons start at how the pieces move, but go all the way up to top levels as well. The will release continually throughout 2025 and beyond.
There will be a puzzles feature in 2025. Board editor will include the ability to set up any position to study as well.

A true revolution in chess. Absolutely love this board. One question - is the Chessup Play Bots feature adapting to my play? If yes, does that happen over time or does that adaptation reset per game?
I have read all of these comments and they have answered a lot of my questions. I do have one question though.
I am one of those who got the checkers for the ChessUp2, and the board says that checkers is coming soon. When is it supposed to work?
Just wondered because there have been 3 updates and they still don't work.
Has anybody else gotten the checkers?

Love my new chessup 2! When I first received it one of the black pawns was not working but the people at bryght labs sent me a new piece right away and it has been great playing one it. I wish there was some way of knowing if you are playing another person with a chessup board. Maybe chess.com will make that possible in the future. I think these boards are going to become more and more popular.
With 1.3.0 and 1.4.0 out, is it expected that disconnection issues (esp chess.com-releated) are resolved?
I loaded, 1.4.0 , then got disconnected in a game immediately thereafter. ![]()
I wish there was some way of knowing if you are playing another person with a chessup board. Maybe chess.com will make that possible in the future.

That is incredibly frustrating. I hope they will quickly get to the bottom of the issues.
i have played about 8 games and it has disconnected once halfway through a game. My WiFi for everything else has been rock solid and my ChessUp has been in the same position that has strong WiFi reception.
It is a lovely machine when it works!
It feels like they need to get the WiFi reliable and perhaps make things more resilient with a graceful reconnection when things do go wrong.
Got my replacement pieces for the board today, it is spectacular! It's everything I was looking for in a chess computer. I just finished an enjoyable game against a bot. I have alot to learn, this will be a great tool, I prefer the OTB feel rather than playing on a screen.

I can launch a game in the app but the clock only appears on my phone. I tried forcing firmware update. Turned it on and on but still can not launch a game from the board itself.
I noticed (though I don't know which update it was) that they removed two Chess.com bots, Coach Danny and Coach Mae, in one of the updates, I think 1.3.0. is when I first noticed it? Anyway its 1.4.0. now does anybody know if these are major updates or just bug fixes, etc.?

Apple allows a person to return a product within 2 weeks of buying it. I hope Brightlabs has a similar money back guarantee if someone is unhappy with how their board performs.

same man, i just received it and i cant play online, the move on board doesnt play on the phone so i have to play ON the phone AND ON the board, thats mean i lose a LOT of time and basically have no purpose, making me think too much for no reason. I really hope that they will fix this because i received the chessup2 for christmas
Same issue here. I can play the chess.com bots, but it will not start a live game online. I can start it from the app, and move light up on the board for an opponents move, but I can't make moves on the board.
Not sure if this is related, but in the app it keeps asking me over and over if it can have access to my chess.com account. I click yes but it is stuck in a loop until I click cancel. But it seems to have access to my account and can start a game from the app. Weird.
Also - got two boards one for me and one for a gift. Between the two we have one bad black pawn.
