I don't want to be disrespectful, but the pricing seems to be over the top. From what I have seen in the past, these sets were frequently sold for prices well below $3k, most times even below $1k, see the below links. Is there a link to the auction in which one of these sets sold for $12k? I would very much like to see that!

Thanks for sharing. Wow! I wonder why this one sold for so much more.

It had a low production number. They go anywhere from $1,500 - $12,000 depending on the auction and production number.

Do you know what production number was the set that sold for $12k? It must've been REALLY low. Single digit?

zayika

It was #27

Nice! Does anyone know if Mike Trout (#27) is a chess player/collector? After signing that $400 million baseball contract, he's got some cash to spend. Hah!

FYI: These Franklin Mint/Faberge sets originally sold in 1984 for $4500.

Adjusted for inflation... $4,500 in 1984 is equal to $11,571 in 2021. Daaaaang.

No disrespect meant and I totally understand that we all have varying tastes....but.....that set does nothing for me.

Why are the pawns not set up in the picture?

Oh Please!

My comments were always in jest!...and...I meant no disrespect at all, but you did!

I get it....All is good-happy.png....

Admittedly, if I dropped that kind of cash on a set,I'd be cooking my own meals forever.

Btw,today my new Alkehin set of pieces came in and I'm getting a good supper....Not cooked by me.

Haven't checked them all yet,so I hope there's no surprises awaiting me.
