Recommendations Luxury Wood Chess Pieces

I would like to purchase a luxury set of wooden chess pieces. We have made purchases with the Chess Store and the House of Staunton. I prefer a reddish wood for the darker pieces. Obviously I want the best price, but most importantly, authentic pieces that will last in beauty and durability. I have red other post where customers purchased sets advertised as an exotic wood to only discover the wood was cheap knock off that was died. I understand the majority of wooden sets are made in India. Not an issue. Like most, my tastes normally point me to looking at the beauty of the knight first. Thank yo in advance for your recommendations.

A little bit late reply. However, I think Royal Chess Mall has good options and they're also well received. They offer high quality, luxury pieces at a more affordable price than HoS. They also have more selections. Their popular sets such as the Marengo, Alexandria, are really striking but in my opinion, less suitable for regular use. I look at the knights and I start to worry that the mane might chip if dropped or tumbled.

If you want luxury + playability, I think the 2016 sinquefield reproduction and Imperator are good. I think when it comes to playability, it almost always comes down to how resistant the knight is to chipping and how easy it is to hold/grab.

Honorable mention is the 1950 Dubrovnik Reproduction set. It's an all time favorite. Although it's more classified as mid range than luxury. So yeah. Those are just my recommendations but I recommend you to see it for yourself.

Nearly a year ago, I acquired a Jaques Reproduction set from Gaurav Sharma at Amritsar Chess Company, which operates as the wholesale arm of TheChessEmpire. Although it's a Jaques reproduction, my set features Boxwood and African Padauk (also known as Bud Rosewood.)

I am considering purchasing an additional set of knights from them in the future. When buying directly from the manufacturer, you can customize the choice of wood or even adjust the number of pieces for an extra cost.

(Edit) Sorry, forgot to mention the name of the chess set, it's a 1853 Jaques Paulsen 3.5″ Reproduction
