Wow! It would be kinda neat if there was a way to hang the boards on the wall to display them all. Like a chess board art gallery, but easy to remove when you want to use one.

Most of the boards are now in the attic, standing one beside the other on the floor. At least I can find them easily.

Where did you get all the chessboards? Did you buy them over time.

You can start your own chess cafe.

Over the time, after visiting uncountable flea markets and antique shops.

The flat was from my aunt, who went recently to a retirement house. I was using the flat to make an inventory of my chess collection. Tomorrow people will come to clean the apartment, so we were in a hurry to finish the job. Now all boards are in the inventory. The chess sets not, but at least I could take low quality chess sets (and boards) from the collection. I can use these things as prices in chess tournaments I organise for my students (usually beginners or casual players).

I stored the sets in boxes, 8 in total.

I was surprised to find some sets which I have forgotten. For example an old, really beautiful Regence set, and a second onion top. I will soon show these sets here.

I envy your collection and I so wish I lived nearby, I’m sure I would buy a number of sets … or at least offer … as local finds …it’s so hard to find older European and interesting sets over here… and I’m sure if I bought my late 19thC table around to your place you’d have some wonderful pieces to suit these 4cm squares! The basic French Regence pieces are the best match I have to date.

A very nice table. I have something similar, but checkers, not chess. It will perhaps be restored, depending from the price.
