Wooden chess sets

The pawns that go with my Elite Avant Garde talking chess computer have the same characteristic. I put a dab of White Out on the bottoms of the white pawns. You could do that or, if you thought it wouldn't distract you *too* much, put a dab on the tops of the Knights.
I recently bought a new chess set.The chess set is really nice but I find that the black pieces(that are actually brown) have a little bit of colour difference,for example the brown knight is different in colour (slightly lighter) than the other one. Is this normal or my set is defected?
